|The Howard Zinn Book Fair is pleased to collaborate with the Center for Political Education for a special multi-session track, “Black Reconstruction in Our Times.” This track will explore and update the ideas presented in W.E.B. DuBois’ classic “Black Reconstruction in America: 1960-1880. This work was the first full-length study of the role black Americans played in the crucial period after the Civil War, when the slaves had been freed and the attempt was made to reconstruct American society. We hope that these conversations will contribute to our understanding of how to build a movement against racism today.
